DJ Mark
K
How it all started...
Back in 1994 Mark K had his first attempt behind the turntables
in a room, which he and a few friends practiced in. The first
LP's which he bought were Hip Hop records. As he became better
in mixing and finally saved up enough money to afford two 'technics'
turntables and a decent mixer, Hip Hop seemed not suitable enough
for good mixes. At this time he started to become more and more
interested in the Techno scene.
He turned his back on Hip Hop in 1995 and started to invest
in Techno LP's. He found more pleasure in mixing, whilst improving
his DJ'ing technique considerably. Due to the fact that he was
always open to various music styles and went to different clubs
regularly, he left the techno scene behind him at the end of
1997 and entered the House scene, which widened his musical
horizons again. This new style began to generate more interest
in him and he started to sell his own mixed tapes. These opened
the gateway to his first public performances.
Mark has always been open minded to new music styles which have
'that certain something' which is why it didn't take much for
him to be highly impressed with UK garage. He knew this sound
from the B-sides of particular English labels, but was only
able to put these LP's into use when he was offered the unique
opportunity of playing at the first Sweet&Sexy party in
Bern, June 1999.
In March 2000, Mark was officially accepted into the Sweet&Sexy
crew, and so, with the success story of Sweet&Sexy began
the successful career of Mark K as a DJ. From then on came one
booking after the other. Today Mark K is one of the most booked
DJ's in Switzerland. Apart from his performances at the notorious
Sweet&Sexy parties, he also plays at many other parties
throughout Switzerland.
In June 2001, he released a UK garage compilation together with
the well known 'Partynews' magazine.
