MC-D-Fine
In 1990, at the age of eleven, D-fine started listening to Hip
Hop and became very interested in the development of the Urban
Skills, especially the art of rhyming and mixing.
As he grew older and finally could afford to invest in a wider
range of records and cd`s, he began to appreciate the diversity
and depth within the poetic artform, namely rapping. Due to
many different influences (Gangstarr, Big Daddy Kane, Mad Skillz,
Das Efx, Bone Thugs, LLcJ etc..) he began to write his own lyrics.
He would spend many afternoons endulged in cyphas, since rhyme
perfection was strongly based on freestyle perfection.This was
how his first band formed in 1995.....a group called M.Beats
which started with a drummer, a bassist a piano another Mc and
D-fine as Mc D. Over the next two years they fusioned into a
9-man crew with an additional female Mc, a guitarist,a Dj and
a vocalist.
They played at many different concerts throughout Switzerland
and found strong appreciation amongst listeners due to the diversity
in style (Hip hop/Funk/Breaks) and spoken languages (French/Swedish/English/German/Spanish).
In 1997 the band recorded their first single.
After that the group split and D-fine, the vocalist Seven and
the drummer withdrew to the world of studio sound and digital
producing. D-fine constantly kept adding gear to his home studio
and remained in close contact with the music network in Switzerland.
His musical and lyrical horizon began to widen as he was introduced
to drum`n`bass/jungle and in 1999 Uk-Garage. The innovative
blend of extreme bass mixed with breakbeats and sharp lyrics
caught his ear and left him motivated to once again adapt to
the evolution of the word Mc, which now involved hosting, rhyming
and crowd-participaion longside his partner in rhyme...his Dj.
At the time three crews established themselves within the swiss
garage scene (sweet&sexy/nasty collective/master records)
who gave dfine the opportunity to gain experience.He proved
to be an extremly quick lerner and continued to amaze many ravers
and dj`s with his lyrical talent, clever rhymes, personality
and professionalism. That`s when Sweet&Sexy invited him
to join and support them in their undertakings throughout the
country. In very short time he has visited many venues and is
warmly welcomed by steppers everywhere.
As an Mc he strictly follows the codex:
is always on time
no rapping over the dj`s mix
no rapping over vocals
involves the crowd
In future:
He will be working in close conjunction with Switzerlands finest
Djs and be involved in productions all around the nation .At
the moment he`s focused on his own independent project which
he hopes to release soon in collaboration with the vocalist
Seven, Bobby Blaster from FM-Productions Bern and producer Dj
Flink.
